How to Change Your Life (today)

There comes a point in time when enough is enough.

Maybe you woke up and realized that you actually aren’t that happy. Maybe you tried to lose weight (again) and failed, again. Maybe your 20s slipped by and now you stand as a 30 something without much to show for it.

The crazy and absurd thing is that you can still change. It’s not too late. Scratch that, it’s never too late and it doesn’t matter what your spouse thinks, or your parents, or your boss, or even me. All that matters is that you make a decision to change and follow through.

You see, the world and society today has become accepting of mediocrity. Despite what we feel deep down, our ancestral instincts to progress and conquer, we have been told that we should simply fall in line. They said that we should be thankful for what we have.

All of that, every bit of it, starting with your 2nd grade teacher telling you sit down and be still, is wrong.

We are born with so much more. We are meant to do so much more. However, we have been programmed go along with the group. To fit in and to subdue what we really want. Your 2nd grade teacher was among the first in a long line of authorities to tell you to quiet down and be still. No more.

Here are the five steps to changing your life today:

1. Decide to make a change.

2. Choose a goal.

3. Commit everything you have to it. Stop playing video games. Stop binge watching Netflix. Stop complaining.

4. Read everything. Become obsessed with learning everything you can about your goal.

5. Hire a coach.

Here’s why number 5 matters: It doesn’t.

But it helps. A lot. Remember, you have to undo years of brainwashing. You have to stand up to those authorities that have told you how to live your life for years. And you have to do it mostly on your own, because the closest people in your life will tell you that you are crazy. They will even tell you to quiet down and be still.

Fight back.

Take control.

Conquer.
